About Me

I’m a born advocate–when I was little on the playground, when I came out as a young adult, and when I have witnessed systematic racism in the prison industrial complex. And now, all of these experiences as a civil rights attorney have converged with my theological training for political theology. I feel as though my working life has prepared me for advocating Christ’s Holy Gospel in the court of public opinion. Writing, encouraging the challenge to injustices, and being a part of the movement for a more inclusive America comprise the most important chapter of my working life.

Episcopal Priest and Civil Rights Attorney

I have spent my adult life working for people living on the margins of society, as a civil rights attorney, and as an Episcopal priest. Three passions anchor my mission, Jesus’ Gospel of “love thy neighbor,” our constitutional rights, and working for justice. God calls us to work as public theologians, those who speak faithfully in the public square to the widest possible audience. This makes us public theologians who challenge social and governmental actions that cause injustice. Click here for my biography.
